Kerewe

(5 min walk)

Westerly winds. Mainly works in the wet season. Right and left. The right is a very long down-the-line wall ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers, opening on swell. A setup board works great here. The left is shorter but also works well on certain angles. The inside has a very fun point break that works best with the wet season winds or early morning on glassy days before the trade winds pick up.

Kerewe A-frame

(5 min walk)

Mid tide. Works from 2–4 ft. The peak is a longboarder’s dream and breaks directly out the front of Sumba Beach House. The inside section is friendly for beginners as well. A super mellow wave but with enough power to serve a strong current and a lot of paddling. Fun on a longboard or mid-length.

Marosi

Easterly winds. Very strong left. Only works on swell from June to October. Best access is via boat. Breaks over a reef with a long powerful wall. Advanced surfers only. The current is strong and gets heavy. Fun for intermediate surfers on smaller swell but can get quite heavy on a larger swell.

Launching Pads

Mid tide. Works from 2–5 ft. A fun and fairly reef break suitable mainly for advanced surfers. Not advised for beginners. Sunset mid tide 2–2.5 ft can be a clean wave with fast sections a lot of wall. The inside has a fun beginners wave. A setup or gun is needed to surf this wave.

Beachy

Low tide. On swell from 1–4 ft this is a super fun wedge with nice peeling sections. Best onshore in the afternoon with an offshore in the morning. Breaks over sand. Primarily an intermediate to advanced right-hand wave. On a bigger swell it will barrel and would only be advised to surf for more advanced surfers.

The Hole

Easterly winds. The hole mid tide from 1.5–2.5 ft. This is an advanced A-frame wave. When most waves are blown out in town, this wave will produce a clean one. Not advised for beginners and only intermediate surfers on smaller swell.

Rua Rua Right

Westerly winds. Right. Breaks on the reef. Only works on swell from June to October. Best accessed via boat. Very long wall. Advanced surfers only. On bigger swell it can get very heavy. During the wet season it produces very long right-hand barrels making it a standout.

Watu Bella

Easterly winds. This left works from 2–4 ft. Can work both left and right with enough swell and consistency. Mainly right-hand wave out front. This bay produces a very mellow left-hand wave and a perfect beginners beach break on smaller days.
